Mark is Head of Policy and Networks at London Higher. Mark has worked across a variety of policy areas within government and for business membership organisations. His experience includes the Industrial Strategy, innovation and energy policy, labour markets and higher education.

Mark received his Postgraduate Diploma in Public Services Management from the University of York.

Darren
Desouza

As Senior Policy and Projects Officer, Darren leads on the policy areas of research, civic, international, and mental health/wellbeing.

With a particular focus on showcasing the impact of London HE locally, nationally and globally through this cross-cutting portfolio, he also leads on high-profile projects such as the London Higher Civic Map and the Global Majority Mentoring Programme. Alongside the rest of the Policy team, he works across the organisation and with member institutions to influence policymakers and make the case for London HE through London Higher’s Networks, written policy briefings, and external engagements.

Darren previously worked in higher education/research policy and communications in Brussels; he holds a first-class degree in History & Portuguese from the University of Leeds.
