Georgina
Bailes
Georgina joined Northumbria University, Newcastle in October 2013 as Executive Officer to the Vice-Chancellor.
Her role is to provide strategic support and advice to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Andrew Wathey CBE,
as well as to the University Executive across a wide range of University activities but particularly around the
implementation of the University’s Corporate Strategy. She also leads and manages the Executive Support Team.
Georgina is a member of the University Executive and the Senior Management Group and is responsible for co-ordinating
the work of these two groups.
Prior to joining Northumbria she has held a number of public sector roles including Communities Officer for the
North Tyneside Drug Action Team, Regional Adviser for the Crime and Drugs Team at Government Office for the North
East and Policy Adviser at North Tyneside Council in the Chief Executive’s Office. Georgina holds a BA (Hons) in
Criminal Justice from Liverpool John Moore’s University.
