Hardie
William is the Policy Advisor at Robert Gordon University (RGU) in Aberdeen. He joined the University in 2022. He provides the Principal and the Executive team with
strategic policy and public affairs advice and insights to ensure that the University is well positioned to influence and inform higher education-related policy
developments. Key activities include horizon scanning, policy advice and analysis, parliamentary engagement, position statements, briefings and coordinating consultation
responses.
William has extensive senior public policy experience in the devolved nations having previously been the Policy Advice Manager at the Royal Society of Edinburgh, Scotland’s
National Academy, where he worked for 16 years managing a team covering a broad portfolio of policy areas, including post-16 education, research, skills, innovation and
STEM. His interests include policymaking in the devolved nations and intergovernmental relations. William holds an undergraduate honours degree in law from Edinburgh Napier
University.
